Associate

Jess Upchurch-King is honored to be an associate of Sutherland & Associates. She is the Founder and Executive Director of YOU ARE, a nonprofit organization creating safe housing and education opportunities for women and girls through strategic global partnerships. Currently operating in Uganda with a vision to expand internationally, YOU ARE serves 36 girls with holistic care and is developing a primary school to increase long term educational access.

Jess has worked at the intersection of social impact, nonprofit leadership, women’s empowerment, and cross cultural collaboration since 2017. Having lived on three continents, North America, Asia, and Africa, she brings a global perspective to building sustainable, partnership driven solutions rooted in dignity and long term impact. Under her leadership, YOU ARE tripled its funding in one year while expanding programming and strengthening organizational infrastructure.

Jess is known for her bold leadership and creative fundraising vision, rallying everyday people around small, consistent giving that creates life changing impact. She is also a speaker whose message is simple and powerful: You are capable. You are significant. You are the impact you were meant to make.
